Build A Brighter Tomorrow Through Youth Sports
Parents want to see their child achieve a fulfilling and successful life. Regardless of the destination, the path to a successful life will be laid by the character and values developed during their formative years. This development starts at home, continues in school, and is supported by a child's involvement in extracurricular activities.
“Youth sport is the number one extracurricular activity for kids in the US, more than forty million children participated in youth sports.”
Experts in child development have recently raised concerns regarding the decline in child and adolescent health and well-being. Anxiety, depression, self-harming, and suicide have risen at an alarming rate. The heightened isolation brought about by the pandemic only amplified these disturbing statistics, and today they are all at an all-time high.
These same experts believe that the socialization associated with a child’s involvement in sports, and in particular team sports, is the antidote to the isolation that is crippling many children and adolescents today.
Cornerstone with our partners Project Play Western New York and the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation is passionate about the value of youth sports to young boys and girls, and we are committed to supporting the creation of a sports experience that brings families together and highlights the role sports plays in the development of important life skills.
Our commitment to every family is that Cornerstone will support the creation of a sports experience that offers a positive, safe playing environment and highlights the role sport can play in developing character, values, and life skills.
Why does Cornerstone fully engage parents?
Parents are the most important people in a child's life, that is why Cornerstone fully engages the parents in the role they play in the creation of a dynamic family youth sport experience. Youth sports participation should be a fun experience, a shared family memory, if they view it as valuable development of both their child's athletic & emotional development. Cornerstone have been developed using this foundational thinking.
Why does Cornerstone focus on the development of a coach's ability to deliver a youth sports experience that highlights life skills?
It supports a conversation that youth sport can play a pivotal role in developing happier kids, healthier families and stronger communities. Every parent will see value in their child getting better at making friends, developing greater self-esteem, confidence and social skills.
Cornerstone helps organizations, coaches and parents highlight all of these lifetime values.
